Consumer Protection Act — Colorado

Colorado's Consumer Protection Act (Colorado Revised Statutes § 6-1-101 et seq.) prohibits unfair or deceptive business practices. This applies to insurance companies as well as to repair shops.

If an insurance company misrepresents your rights in order to steer you to a preferred shop, or if a shop misrepresents what repairs were performed or what parts were used, that conduct may be actionable under the Act.

Document all communications — written, email, and detailed notes on phone calls. File a complaint with Colorado DORA and consult an attorney if you believe you have experienced deceptive conduct.
